I'm still slightly ill, but I couldn't stop myself from getting on the new treadmill after work. I most likely pushed myself a bit too hard after doing nothing last week, but it felt ridiculously good to sweat until my shirt was soaked.

I've been listening to The Roots' Phrenology, which is perfection. I can't help but jump up and dance around the living room when the song I embedded below comes on. Don't take it too literally; it's really about switching up the musical genres and transcending the expectations and requirements placed upon them as a hip-hop group. Even if Cody Chesnutt does say, "I only wanna fertilize another behind my lover's back."

I also found a live performance of one of my favorites, "Water". You can find it here. "They say a record ain't nothing if it's not touching, gripping, draw you in closer make you want to listen to it." And just because it's a masterpiece of a song and video, I'll link "You Got Me" right here.
What do I have? What?

de treadmill, boss! de treadmill )

It folds up to save space, but it is surprisingly sturdy for a folding treadmill. Unfortunately, I'm still sickly, so I can't really use it. I did jump on it for a 30-second jog, but even that wiped me out. As soon as I regain use of my lungs (i.e. get rid of all this mucus), I am so on that baby.
Yeah... I totally bought a treadmill. My excuses are many. I don't like sharing the treadmill in the fitness center, and everyone is going to be up in that place come January 1st to begin their New Years resolutions. It's nice to walk across the apartment to exercise instead of going out in the cold. The model I wanted was on sale. Blah-de-blah. Excuses. I'm so excited about it, though. It's a folding model, so it won't take up half the library, which is where I'm going to be putting it. Yay for exercise!

I'm enjoying the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels more and more. I finished the third on Sunday night. Deciding which brother is my favorite is too difficult a task for me. Although, right now, I want to huggle Phury. Tell me someone else wants to huggle him too, the poor bastard.

I love, love, love Eric B. & Rakim's "Microphone Fiend". "E.F.F.E.C.T. a smooth operator, operating correctly." Gah, I love that. I also enjoy Rage Against the Machine's version. If you're not so much into the hip-hop or rap, then it might be more up your alley. The song is solid either way.

I need super awesome workout music for the exercising. I don't care how awful or cheesy or embarrassing the songs/bands might be, I'm open to all suggestions. Because I totally have some eyebrow-raising stuff on my iPod that you all would probably disapprove of. The only caveat is that I'm not a huge fan of dancehall, techno, house, etc. Nothing too repetitive and pounding.

This is brought to you by the Amanda-Finally-Got-Up-Off-Her-Ass coalition. After well over a week of sitting around the apartment bemoaning the fact that I cannot go jogging or walking after work due to the lack of sun and warmth, I finally managed to trot over to the fitness center in the clubhouse. It's only a building away, and I've run out of excuses for not going over there and making myself feel better. Apparently, everyone eats dinner later than I do (i.e. after 5:45) because when I went in there at 6:00, the place was empty. I had eight wonderful pieces of equipment all to myself. After busting my ass on the elliptical for fifteen minutes, I hopped over the treadmill and turned it up to a brisk pace (4.5 mph) for a couple miles. The stationary bike display was blinking at me and saying, "Please ride me," but I did not ride it.

Unfortunately, I forgot my iPod, so boredom set in pretty quickly. I'm going back tomorrow, armed with my iPod. Tell me what I need to add to my workout playlist on the Notorious P.O.D.

I'm having one of those days when all of your co-workers can do nothing but irritate you. Obviously, this means I need a long weekend. I think everyone in this office is in a foul mood, and perhaps that is the reason why I'm so annoyed with them all. The fake smiles and put-on happy voices only induce eye-twitching in me.

The fitness center in the clubhouse appeared to be deserted at 6:00 yesterday afternoon. A woman was leaving as I poked my head in, but no one else was in the room. I don't expect it to stay that way with winter coming on and people retreating to the indoors for their exercise, but at least it isn't packed already. So, it looks like I'm going to take advantage of the free equipment for the time being. If I get the urge to join the gym up the block, then I can always try it out on a monthly basis. For now, I'm still walking Ferguson after dinner while the weather permits.

I stumbled across a link to a website called Whatever It Takes that raises money for charities. They collect symbols and messages of hope from people in the arts or world leaders and use the artwork to produce merchandise to raise money. This is Robbie William's contribution. No wonder I love him so much. He cracks me up.
