I decided to take Friday off work so I can curl up on the sofa and watch some of my favorite 'shippy episodes of The X-Files. The forecast says to expect rain and snow, which suits me just fine since I'll be inside with some sort of hot beverage and a quilt. I tried to talk Jason into playing hooky with me, but he's swamped with work and can't take the time off.

We're going to a puppet show tomorrow night at q-Staff Theatre. Jason's friend Jim and Jim's girlfriend are coming with us; we've already made the reservations. The performance is Autumn Portraits, and it looks very interesting. Jim wants us to follow the puppet show up with a concert at The Launchpad, but neither of us are familiar with the bands. Jason and I are just terribly picky when it comes to shows nowadays. It's got to be one of my most favorite of bands to get my ass into a sticky-icky-gross bar.

I'm beat and was going to go to bed early tonight, but I can't seem to actually do it. Instead, I watched some gag reels from early seasons of The X-Files. The one I embedded below is a hoot. I nearly fell in the floor at the 3:30 mark. There is some serious Mulder/Skinner action involving Skinner bent over a desk and some thrusting from Mulder. If that isn't enough of a tease to get you to watch it, I don't know what is...

I might find myself pelted with shoes or other various objects on your desk when I say this. I love Leonard Cohen's songs only when they are not sung by him. I don't like his voice. I tried, but it just doesn't work for me unless he is singing the song "I'm Your Man". However, when I hear Jeff Buckley's rendition of "Hallelujah", Nick Cave almost growling out "Avalanche", or Rufus Wainwright performing "Hotel Chelsea #2", I feel like my life is complete.

I've been meaning to watch Lian Lunson's I'm Your Man, but I'm being lazy about ordering it. I did stumble upon a clip of Antony from Antony and the Johnsons performing "If It Be Your Will" while I was surfing YouTube last night. His voice coupled with that song takes my breath away.

I have the biggest crush on Shepard Smith. He's an anchor on Fox News Channel, and he's quite possibly the funniest, coolest guy on the planet. I can't watch him for more than fifteen minutes without cracking up.

I'm putting these videos up so I can find them again in the future. However, I highly suggest you watch them if you need a laugh. Especially the first one. I nearly suffocated with laughter while watching it.

It was cold today, so I spent my time inside watching bad and semi-bad horror movies on the Sci-Fi Channel. I did venture out to store on the corner to get a pumpkin spice cappuccino, but that was the extent of it. However, I was by no means lazy. I managed to finish knitting the pieces to Ferguson's wool sweater. They are blocking in the living room floor on a towel for the night. I hope to start seaming it together tomorrow.

I also decided that the slippers I made a few days ago--the ones intended for my mother--are just too loud and colorful for her tastes. Plus, they fit my feet snuggly, and my mother's feet are two sizes larger than mine. I found some yarn at the craft store on Friday that seemed to work better than the eyelash I used for the first pair. So, this pair is made with light blue chenille and some sort of fuzzy yarn Paton makes. I don't have the label on hand at the moment. They're also about an inch longer than the first attempt.

They're a bit large on me--especially at the ankle--so they should fit her perfectly.

I stumbled across this video last night. It is at once hilarious, impressive, and awesome. The description says it's acapella group from a college performing their very own version of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River".

I'm not exactly in the mood for cake and ice cream in the office break room, but it appears I don't have a choice unless I can invent an important meeting in the next two hours. We're celebrating the receptionist's birthday. She's going to be terribly bubbly. I'm going to try not to throw up. I'm being mean. It's not her; it's me. I don't want to be here today. After all the dramatics of last week, I just want a long weekend.

The Magic Numbers always make me happy. I'll play them. For those of you who are having a crappy Monday, here's something that might make you feel better. It's just so happy and catchy.

I only have four more episodes of Deadwood. And it is so depressing that HBO canceled such an amazing television show. Fucking cocksuckers, as Al would say.

Speaking of Al, I found this clip from the show on YouTube. Merrick, the newspaper editor, has been the victim of vandalism. Some hired thugs broke into his place and trashed his printing press. He is struggling with a sense of betrayal and helplessness when Al pops in to talk to him.

Ellsworth was a scruffy, unkempt fellow in the first season. However, his little heart of gold led him to propose to a pregnant widow to save her from public scorn. Now that he's all cleaned up, he's pretty damn attractive.

I'm in love with this video. It's Ray LaMontagne and Damien Rice singing the Bee-Gees' "To Love Somebody" on television somewhere. Why don't they show stuff like this on one of the many cable channels in the US?

And surfing around after watching that, I found this beautiful video of Ray singing "Jolene". It gives me goosebumps.

That's all. :-)

I volunteered at the adoption clinic for the shelter I adopted Ferguson from last year. Because people cannot adopt a dog and take that dog home right then, we don't adopt a great deal of dogs at the clinic. But, it is a great way to get the word out. I handed out many of applications and business cards to interested people. I think they have two definite adoptions in place from today--they just need to follow through with the home visits. The dogs were wonderful. I really enjoyed meeting all of them. And, of course, I wanted to take all of them home with me. Ferguson would have thrown a fit. He likes being the only dog, so he doesn't have to share his toys or bones with anyone else.

An older woman (late 60's?) was attacked by a cat just down the aisle from us. Their organization was set up a few feet away. She took a temperamental cat out of its cage. I didn't see what transpired, but I saw the aftermath when everyone was yelling to call 911. Her arm was shredded and covered in dripping blood. There was a huge pool of blood on the floor, and two people where holding the cat down under a mound of towels. I had no idea a single cat could cause so much damage. There was just so much blood.

I'm still loving the high speed internet. So, here's the beautiful Lisa Hannigan singing "I Remember" with Damien Rice. I love her so much. She has the purest, most gorgeous voice I've ever heard.

I have absolutely nothing to do at work. I'll probably spend the rest of the afternoon reading the book I bought with me. I've got the video below on repeat in the background because we all know I'm sick and, occasionally, I have dubious taste in music. I don't find Justin Timberlake to be all that enticing to look at, but I really love his delivery when it comes vocals.

I've been living in the dark ages all this time. My desktop at work has cable internet, but I've been dealing with dial-up at home since I moved in with Jason. I never pushed for faster internet because I knew his computer couldn't handle it. Recently, he got a new desktop, and we investigated the choices. I contacted the phone company on Monday to sign up for DSL with them. They sent us the modem via UPS. Both our computers are online now. Seven megs per second, baby. It's so freakin' amazing. It took me a little under two hours to get them both up and running, but mine is running wirelessly, so it was a bit of trouble at first.

Anyway, yay! I can watch YouTube videos at home now. To celebrate, I give to you my three favorite men in video. Oooh...
