Robin Thicke, please stop making me like you. I don't want to, but your groove makes my knees weak and my butt wiggle. Listen to "Sidestep" and you'll see what I mean.
I'm a huge, huge fan of Lars von Trier, a Danish director. Jason I watched his film Breaking the Waves last weekend, and I highly recommend it if you can find it in your local video rental store. It's beautiful. Plus, Stellan Skarsgard is a babe. I'd totally do the little accent-thingy over the last A in his name, but my keyboard is deficient.
I've worked my way through the first half of The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I'm enjoying it, but it hasn't sucked me in like some other novels have. I consciously have to put aside time to read it. That being said, I still think it's a good novel, and I've even teared up at a couple of the more tender and emotional parts. I also like the themes explored in the story.
A quick trip to the Starbucks down the block might be in order for this evening. It's only 7:30, and I'm nearly asleep on my keyboard.

Which reminds me...I finished The Book of Illusions a few days ago and found it stunning. I was bracing myself for weeping at the end, but instead I had all my weeping at the beginning, when he describes his sorrow over the loss of his entire family. That said, I was wild to see the films of Hector Mann. The whole book felt very cinematic to me, but I think that actually turning it into a movie would break the 'illusion'. Thankyouthankyouthankyou for introducing me to a new author. Have you tried any David Mitchell (Cloud Atlas, Black Swan Green)?

I'm glad you liked The Book of Illusions. Paul Auster is one of my favorites, and that is my favorite book of his. I think the end got me because at the time I read it, I was in a long distance relationship, and the situation horrified me. I wished for weeks and weeks after finishing the novel that Hector Mann's films really did exist. Then again, I don't think they could ever live up to what is in my head.
I haven't read any David Mitchel, but I'm going to a couple used bookstores tomorrow, so I'll definitely look for the two you mentioned. I'm always up for suggestions since it is so much easier to have the assurance from someone that something is good.
