I got up this morning with the intention of getting my fingerprints taken for the CHL fingerprint card and then going to the Dept. of Public Safety to drop off my concealed carry license. Jason was going to ride with me because he needed to run both errands before work as well. My plans were dashed when I saw that one of my back tires was as flat as could be. We ran the errands in Jason's car instead. I left my sad car in the parking lot after resolving to ignore the problem until I got home. The fingerprint lady told me that I was tense. Huh. You don't say? My car is useless due to a flat tire, and I still have to go into the office today. Anyway, after she wiggled my hand to de-tense me, I paid her my twenty bucks and got my two cards. We dropped off our applications at the Dept. of Public Safety shortly after. It went surprisingly well. I thought, with the day I was having, they would tell me I had missed an important form that was necessary for a complete application. Not so. I suspect I'll actually receive my concealed carry license by the end of September at the latest, provided that the FBI isn't buried under too many background checks.

My excitement over applying wore off when I got home and realized I'd have to deal with my flat tire. Jason decided to be a good boyfriend and change it for me. The gesture was appreciated, even if he had difficulty getting the bolts (is that what they are called?) off my tire. Eventually, I stood on one end of the tire iron while he held it in place to get the bolts to turn. The spare that comes with my car barely qualifies as a tire. Jason insisted on following me to the mechanic's to ensure that it didn't fall off along the way. I went shopping at the pet store just down the street for an hour while my car sat in line to be fixed. I sat in the waiting room at the mechanic's for another hour and a half until they finally got around to putting a new tire on it.

By that time, it was twelve-thirty, and my stomach was screaming for food. I dashed home for lunch and then dashed to work. I told them I'd be in by ten o'clock at the latest. I finally showed up a little after one o'clock. Oops. I should have just taken the entire day off. The only good thing that came of this whole mess was that I read several chapters of my new book while I sat in the waiting room this morning.

In other news, do Women's One-a-Day vitamins make anyone else sick to their stomach if taken in the morning with breakfast? I swallowed the vitamin sixty seconds before I ate my peanut butter sandwich with yogurt and a peach this morning. It immediatly jacked up my stomach, and I barely managed to eat my breakfast. My gag reflex kicked in each time I swallowed a spoonful of yogurt. I used to take Centrum and never had this problem. What's up with that?

Most vitamins make me feel sick, I always thought it was the iron but it seems to happen no matter what kind I take. I've given up.

Grats on getting everything turned in for your license.

And as far as mechanics/car places go, I think they know when you've got somewhere else to be. At least it was only one tire.

I've also found that carrying a book around with me makes me far less grumpy when I get stuck in line or have to wait on something. Must be my inner bookaholic! ;)

I've never had any problems taking vitamins before. Maybe it was just the brand?

I get that sometimes when people fingerprint me as well. "You're tense, I can't get a good print", etc.
