Why I love R.A. Salvatore and have had a crush on Drizzt since I was fifteen:
"Beware the engineers of society, I say, who would make everyone in all the world equal. Opportunity should be equal, must be equal, but achievement must remain individual."
"And so I reject all but the most moderate use of such intoxicants, and while I'll not openly judge those who so indulge, I will pity them their empty souls."
And now for a few other quotes...
"But this -- this, this, this is like being nibbled to death by .. what are those Earth creatures called? Feathers, long bill, webbed feet .. go 'quack' ..."
"Cats."
"Cats. I'm being nibbled to death by cats." (Babylon 5)
"... She stayed awake, her hands moving like a blind woman's over him, knowing from the light outside that the moons were down, knowing the morning was war and that she loved this man more than the world." (Tigana)
"Who has never killed an hour? Not casually or without thought, but carefully: a premeditated murder of minutes. The violence comes from a combination of giving up, not caring, and a resignation that getting past it is all you can hope to accomplish. So you kill the hour. You do not work, you do not read, you do not daydream. If you sleep it is not because you need to sleep. And when at last it is over, there is no evidence: no weapon, no blood, and no body. The only clue might be the shadows beneath your eyes or a terribly thin line near the corner of your mouth indicating something has been suffered, that in the privacy of your life you have lost something and the loss is too empty to share." (House of Leaves)
"Remember that moment when Marlon Brando sent the Indian woman to accept the Oscar, and everything went haywire? Things just very rarely go haywire now. If you're just operating by habit, then you're not really living." (My Dinner with Andre)
"There was nobody that I liked because girls stink. They stink. They're evil. And they're all bad. They're backstabbers, like you." (Buffalo 66)

I've been meaning to drop you a comment about the house. Was your offer accepted? Have you moved in or when are you moving in? It sounds lovely.

The offer has been "accepted," but there's still some negotiation about getting a new roof put on and some plumbing issues. Truth is, we'd take it anyway, but it's worth asking about these other things first. All in all, it looks like it'll go through, in which case we'd be moving in either late May or sometime in June.
My first house, I can't friggin' believe it.

I love the House of Leaves quote. That book really hit me hard and I think I need to read it again. (you are referring to the book?)
