A question for my glorious flist:
Assume that you've just met someone who is knowledgeable about every (sub)genre of music. You speak to him/her for six hours about your life, feelings, dreams, desires, hobbies, likes and dislikes, but you are not allowed to talk about music. After that hour, the person is shown your entire music collection. Which bands/artists/albums will s/he be the most surprised to see?

In other words, do you listen to any music that is contradictory to your personality?

EDIT: And a very happy birthday to my most favorite of professors: Professor Snape. What? Doesn't everyone wish fictional characters a happy birthday?

I think if we talked that long they wouldn't be surprised to find that my tastes are, at best, eclectic.

I  your taste in music. You're not constrained by boundaries.

You're trying to get us to 'fess up, aren't you! Lordy. But it's a cool question.

Do I dare admit this? Four, yes FOUR Enya CDs. Which surprises even me, and I bought them.

What about you? Quid pro quo. :)

I actually bought a couple Enya CDs at one time. They were okay, but I think it was a bit of a phase in my growing up. I still give her props though.

Funny, I feel the same way. And I do still like that damned catchy Orinoco Flow/Sail Away song.

1. Jay-Z, Kanye West, Ludacris, 50 Cent, et al. I think everything else, even the hours upon hours of polka and blasmusik, would be fairly unsurprising. But I totally don't exude an aura of "I listen to lots of top 40 rap and honestly enjoy it"

2. I wish Prof. McGonagall a happy birthday, cause it's the same as mine :)

Hmmmm, yes my deepest darkest secret: some brittany Spears songs on a mix cd. But my tastes are so eclectic that it might actually fit in. If it's not twangy country, or ganster rap, there's a chance I might have it in my collection. But don't hate me for my dark secret.

Well, I listen to all kinds of metal (real metal - no Limp Bizkit thingies) and I would say it's completly contradictory to my personality...I also listen to classical and darkwave that you could say are more in sync with who I am =)

It's basically the same as gothic. Some bands I personally listen within this genre are Arcana, Autumn Tears, Ophelia's Dream...
