First, I'm totally write fic again. Totally. It's Nine/Rose. It's a bit rough going, but I'm getting there and even enjoying it. Now I just need to find a beta, which is rather daunting since I don't know anyone in the Nine/Rose sector of the Doctor Who fandom.
Los Poblanos Organics that I mentioned in this entry? Totally joined it. Yay! It's a farm that participates in community supported agriculture. This just means that you pay a weekly fee for a box of whatever organic fruits and veggies they have available. You don't get to choose what you receive each week, but they promise enough fruits and veggies to feed a family of four. They post the contents of the upcoming week's box on their website so people can plan meals several days in advance. The boxes are delivered to your home or specific drop-off locations in the city on Monday morning. I had mine delivered to a bookstore a couple miles from my apartment. I dropped by after work today and picked it up.

The box has five apples, a head of cauliflower, a bunch of green onions, a bunch of red bore kale, six tangerines, three avocados, a container of cherry tomatoes, a bag of spring mix, four navel oranges, a bunch of carrots, and two pounds of butter cream heirloom potatoes. I've already had two of the tangerines, and they were delicious. Everything else looks beautiful and tasty. And, it's all organic and produced here at LPO or at a small sister farm in California or Arizona.
I'm so ridiculously organized, I've planned out the meals in order to use everything. The spring mix, cauliflower, cherry totatoes, and carrots will be used in several dinner salads this week. The apples, tangerines, and oranges are mid-afternoon or late-night snacks. The green onions and avocados are going into omelets this coming weekend after the avocados ripen fully. I found a great recipe to make crispy kale 'chips' for dinner one night. And the heirloom potatoes are most definitely getting cooked and mashed up with some blue cheese and the remaining green onions.
I'm excited about this because it will force me to eat healthier. I'm diverting the money I would have spent at the regular market on junk to Los Poblanos for the organic boxes. It's $28 a week, so that's a substantial amount of junk I'm not going to be purchasing any longer. I'm a vegetarian for crap's sake, I should be eating loads of veggies. Jason dragged me out to Sonic on Sunday afternoon for lunch. I ate tots and attempted to eat some cheese sticks, but the entire thing just grossed me out. I nearly threw up afterward because my stomach felt so heavy and disgusting. So, this is a great idea for us. Fruits and veggies all the way, I say.

Oh man, I'm excited you're writing fic again, but I've actually NEVER seen a single episode of Dr. Who. :(
