I know I bitch quite often about work, but I really do enjoy working for the company I'm with. Why? Because the boss is out of town, and when the boys (I work for a construction company) packed it in at 4:00 today, they came by my office and asked if I needed a chaperon for the remaining hour of the day or if I was "packing." I flipped up the edge of my shirt and showed them my gun, they all gave me a thumbs up, and then piled out the door to head home. I work in a not-so-nice area of town. There is some gang activity and far too many crazy folk that wander the neighborhood. Whenever I'm locking up by myself, I always take my gun out of my purse and put it in a holster inside of my pants waistband. Any other office, I'd probably be tossed out by security if I flashed a gun to my coworkers. Around here, the boys just like to joke about my gun and how they don't want to piss me off.

Comment on this post. I will choose seven interests from your LJ profile and you will explain what they mean and why you are interested in them. Post this along with your answers in your own journal so others can play along.

She picked these interests for me to explain:
Cowboy Bebop - I love, love, love this anime. And I love Jet Black a zillion times more than that. Straight up, if I were told I could marry any fictional character ever, I would marry Jet Black. He just does it for me like you don't even know.
Fullmetal Alchemist - One of the first animated series I watched, and to this day I still consider it to be one of the best. It's beautifully plotted out and masterfully executed. I want to tell people who don't have any interest in anime that this show will change their minds.
His Dark Materials - This is a series of three novels by Philip Pullman. Recently, the first book (The Golden Compass) was made into a movie. I don't care all that much for the movie, but the books are something very near and dear to my heart. I'd be hard-pressed to name another book or series that has affected me so deeply or moved me quite so much. I'd probably sell every single book I own before I gave up these three novels; they mean that much to me.
R.A. Salvatore - Oh, creator of Drizzt, how I love thee. He's a fantasy author who writes in the D&D shared universe. He is most famous for creating the character Drizzt Do'Urden years ago, and he still continues to write that character to this day. He also created the lovely fellow in my icon: Jarlaxle. Jarlaxle is one of my top five characters ever.
Snape/Hermione - Probably one of two pairings I've put the most time, energy, and love into. I adore the possibilities between these two, even if nothing ever happened or will happen in canon. Many people on my flist actually met me through Snape/Hermione fiction.
Uncomfortable Humor - Long ago, I took an online quiz that was supposed to tell me what sort of humor I had. I ended up with the 'Cutting Edge' humor result, which means I tend to enjoy humor that may make others feel uncomfortable.
X-Files - I grew up with this television show. I started watching it with my father when I was about twelve years old, and I continued watching it religiously since then. At the age of sixteen, I was desperate to be Scully--so desperate that I cut and dyed my hair to look like hers. Over ten years later, my hair still has a similar cut and color. I don't think I could name many television shows that did a better job than 2nd/3rd season X-Files. It was just fantastic.

I'm glad the guys look out for you!

I like uncomfortable humour. I fear I share that interest.

They've got much better about watching out for the girls in the office. Payroll Girl and I had to deal with a fellow (who had been fired) a couple years back who was very aggressive and belligerent. After calling the Payroll Girl "a cow", he went out and pulled a gun on the crew he had worked with. It was a wake up call for all us to not take our safety for granted in the building. The gun incident was never reported because one of our other employees had a much larger gun that he pulled out. Needless to say, the ex-employee tucked tail and ran. Yikes, though.

I was so devoted to the Scully/Mulder 'ship. Wanted it to sail so badly.
Fullmetal Alchemist is, I agree, executed beautifully.

Yes, I loved Mulder/Scully. I still think it is one of the most perfect 'ships ever, and it has affected my idea of relationships ever since. It's probably why I love friendship-turned-romance 'ships.
