So, I found a copy of Let the Right One In on a torrent site. It's a Swedish film (Låt den rätte komma in) based off a Swedish novel of the same name. And, it is oh-so-beautiful. I hear it is running in some theaters across the country, but none here in Albuquerque. If it is showing in your city, you should drop everything and go see it tomorrow. If you can't find it where you live, you can always download a torrent copy. This is the copy I downloaded. You'll need a torrent client to access it, of course.
Anyway, the story is about a young boy who is constantly bullied and picked on, but lacks the will to fight back. He befriends a young girl who moves in next door, but she only comes out at night, and she's quite strange. She encourages him to fight back against these bullies, even offers to help him. After several murders occur, he realizes that she's a vampire. A two hundred year old vampire, to be exact, though she is physically only twelve. The framing, lighting--everything--is just gorgeous and haunting. The two children cast in the main roles are perfect. And the best thing--it's probably the most unusual (yet touching) love story you'll ever see. The dialogue is actually very thin in this movie, so don't fret too much if you dislike subtitles. It is still well worth your time.
On a craptastic note, I had to go into the office this afternoon. The boss's father passed away on Thursday night. I took Friday off, so I didn't find out until Payroll Girl e-mail my personal account with the bad news. The boss is taking off for Texas tomorrow and needs all of the work I would have done throughout the coming short week done before 11:00am Monday morning. Yikes. I popped into my office and gathered up the paperwork I needed to get some things done at home. Luckily, I managed to get most of it done this afternoon. At least the place will be quiet with three employees out on Tuesday and Wednesday. That's what happens when you work for a family business. Over half the office is related. There are only three of us who aren't married to or birthed by one of the owners.
