His Undoing

I'm dreading the start of the work week tomorrow. The only consolation is that it will only be four days long and that the trip to Las Vegas is only a couple weekends away. I think I'm more interested in the lovely drive to Las Vegas and the comfy hotel room than the actual excitement and gambling. Because I'm not very exciting and I don't gamble.

The drabble (100 word piece of fanfic) that I wrote to answer the challenge on PDS...

He didn’t think about the implications until his lips were pressed softly against hers. It was laughable that such a simple kiss would have such an intensely profound effect on his life. For years he had maintained strict control with her, and after the first two he even believed that he wanted nothing beyond a pseudo-friendship, a mutual caring that never extended beyond work.

Now this kiss, the warmth of her mouth seeping over his, the softness of her tongue barely contained behind lips, the tender touch of her fingertips at the base of his neck, would be his undoing.

I'm sure that those of you who aren't familiar with Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake series are completely clueless in regards to that drabble, but it's Anita/Edward for those of you who are in the know.

Why, yes...I believe so. Although, I haven't read that particular novel quoted on the HOL message board. I became disenchanted with the series about three novels ago and haven't put myself through the "gratuitous" sex of that latest release (Incubus Dreams) just yet. Surprisingly enough, my favorite character (the one who is the subject of the drabble) is the one who *hasn't* had sex with Anita. And I think I'd like to keep it that way. I'm of the opinion that amateur fanfiction authors do a better job of writing sex scenes using LKH's characters than she does herself. She just takes it too far and it ends up reading like some bad masturbation story off literotica.com (http://www.literotica.com).
