I bought too many books at the used bookstore today. I need to rearrange my shelves because they are in disarray, and I my organizational tendencies are crying out for mercy. After about five minutes of mental debate in the store, I bought Twilight and the two novels that follow by Stephanie Meyer. The women at the register said that they couldn't keep the books in the store because so many people can in asking for them. Apparently, they had bought the three novels just an hour and a half before I walked in the door. They claimed I was very fortunate. I'm curious as to how books can cause such incredible amounts of fandom wank. However, I'm trying not to approach them with a bias, even if there are fandom wars over the series going on as I type this.
Oh! And I found the cutest little things at the check-out counter. A student from a local high school is trying to raise money for a visit to Japan. She received permission from the bookstore to place some homemade bookmarks, fabric book covers, and stuffed toys at the front of their store. There is a note beside the setup that the money goes toward her trip. So, in an effort to support fellow fangirls everywhere, I bought two of her toys and a bookmark. The toys are beyond cute, and I'm going to place them on my bookshelf once I get it reorganized. I have no idea who the bookmark is, but he's totally my type of fandom-love character.
"Brood King" or "Blood King" is written at the bottom of the drawing on the bookmark, so if anyone is aware who this is, please tell me. For all I know, he's a character the Japan-loving fangirl created. And Sandia High Japan-loving fangirl from Albuquerque: make more terribly cute toys and I'll buy them the next time I'm in Page One Too.
One day I will have a house that has built-in bookshelves along one wall of the living room. This is my goal in life. As it is in this apartment, I'm running out of room. I have to stack the books two deep and two high to fit them all, and hardbacks and oversize paperbacks just throw my entire system off.

I've yet to make up my mind whether I like Twilight or not. I could find a lot to criticise, but on the other hand I couldn't put it down. There is something about it which makes it a very compelling read. So I'll probably read the other two as well.
There are fandom wars about it? I wasn't even aware the series had gathered that big a following. *iz very curious*
