My mother is in the throes of preparing for my grandparents' 50th anniversary party. She is going to do a slideshow of old pictures, so she spent Sunday scanning some of the better ones and putting them on her laptop. I got an e-mail last night with several that involve me or my brothers in some way. My two favorites also involve animals - a mountain lion cub and a sheep.

I'm the wee one. Looking back, I'm surprised my grandmother agreed to hold the cub. I remember this being a setup where you could get your picture taken with one of the young cubs in the sanctuary. After the age of 4, I refused to smile in formal pictures. I don't know why. I was a serious child. Also - I was blonde? Since when? I thought I had brown hair, but it has been well over 10 years since I've seen my true color.

This is my favorite picture of my grandfather and I. I'm glad my mother sent it to me. It just encompasses everything he is about. He loves farming and wilderness and the outdoors. I don't think I've ever seen him in anything but a western-style button-up shirt with jeans. And of course me, grabbing onto the poor sheep like it is my new stuffed animal.
The people I work with are on my last nerve today. I don't mind being at work; I just don't want to talk to any of them. I hate that everyone has to whine to me about their computer issues. It makes my eye twitch.
