I just ordered new checks for myself. Most places allow customers to put a tagline on each of their checks for a small additional fee. I've never taken advantage of that opportunity until now.

My tagline:
Laugh hard. It's a long way to the bank.

Tell me that isn't the best tagline EVER. It's from a Modest Mouse song called "Paper Thin Walls". He's telling everyone to stop and enjoy life, have fun, and laugh. Your goals shouldn't make you ignore the present. If just one person gets that message from my checks, then the extra $2.50 will be worth it.

I've been reading Semi-Auto Angel for a few months. It's a wonderful science fiction comic. It's very in-depth and the two authors/artists have created one of the most amazing worlds. One of them has broken his hand and they've put the comic on hiatus until he can properly recover. In doing so, they also decided to make the story free for anyone to read. Basically, they want to get people hooked so everyone will subscribe to it (like me). A subscription isn't necessary since the most recent page each week is always free and it's only updated at the rate of a page per week. It's the backlog that you have to subscribe to see. Anyway, it's all free now until Nik gets back from hiatus. So, I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys intelligent science fiction, beautiful artwork, and webcomics in general.

If you're interested, then it would be best to check out www.semiautoangel.com first and read all of the background information there. I found the background info to be just as interesting as the comic itself, but I'm weird like that. Once you've read the background info, then you can read all three of the chapters on WirePop.

Why not go read it? It's free and a very satisfying way to spend a half an hour or so. And as if you needed another reason to read it, check out the lovely cover...

oooh, how pretty )
