I haven't posted any music in quite some time. I got two albums yesterday - Alicia Key's As I Am and A Fine Frenzy's One Cell in the Sea. They're both beautiful in their own way.
I've been a fan of Alicia Key's for a while, and I greatly appreciate her style. One of my favorite genres of music is soul/R&B. Unfortunately, nowadays R&B has turned into an outlet for hip-hop. I appreciate rap music in its own right, but it becomes tiresome when it infects all of the R&B being released. Thankfully, Alicia Keys is a wonderful conduit for some soul (neo-soul). Until Maxwell comes back (hopefully next year) with his new offering, I'm sticking with Alicia.
Like You'll Never See Me Again || If I couldn’t feel your touch, and no longer were you with me. I’d be wishing you were here to be everything that I’d be looking for. I don’t wanna forget the present is a gift. And I don’t wanna take for granted the time you may have here with me. ||
Teenage Love Affair || Another secret meeting on the fifth floor staircase. I'm gonna give you this letter of all the things I can't say. Want you to be my first, my last, my ending and beginning. I write your name in my book - your last name, my first. I'm your Mrs. ||
Wreckless Love || So baby, let's go have that wreckless love, that crazy love, that I don't really care we can have it anywhere kind of love. That wreckless love. Let's go back in time when our kiss was brand new, an adventure not perfected, a little hesitant. ||
I'm not overly familiar with A Fine Frenzy, but I was blown away by the album. After a small amount of research via reviews, I've learned that the "band" is actually a young lady (she's only 22!) named Alison Sudol. She's a self-taught piano player and claims to draw her inspiration from writers like Lewis Carroll, C.S. Lewis, Charles Dickens, and E.B. White. How fantastic is that? The first song is how I was introduced to her music.
Almost Lover || We walked along a crowded street. You took my hand and danced with me. Images. And when you left you kissed my lips. You told me you'd never ever forget these images, no. I never want to see you unhappy; I thought you'd want the same for me. ||
The Minnow and the Trout || Help me out said the eagle to the dove. I've fallen from my nest so high above. Help me fly; I am too afraid try. Now saddled with a fear of heights, I'm praying you can set me right. Not your everyday circumstance - elephant sharing peanuts with the rats. ||
Rangers || The paths have been crossed. It comes and goes and is lost. Melancholy phantoms light of skin. Poison apples falling with the wind. Hear the sigh of the trees. Those who enter here never leave. And the rangers stream out to the cabins. They are the hunted, we are the rabbits. Maybe we don't want to be found. ||
