I feel as if my weekend has gone out the window. The retirement party (which I didn't even want to attend) consumed my entire Saturday. I was there from 3pm to 10pm. Meat is not a part of my diet, so by 10 my stomach was eating itself and I had to stop at a pizza place on the way home. The pizza was horrible and I regretted eating it. Even though today has been good, it wasn't enough to balance out my day of boredom yesterday. And work tomorrow. Ah, work.

Rented Harrison Bergeron and Blade Runner which were both excellent. I had a few small complaints about the first, but nothing that ruined the movie for me. The concept was more than interesting even if it rehashed the age old question of equality vs. individuality. Blade Runner would have been MUCH more enjoyable if I hadn't have watched it after that blasted party when I wasn't feeling so well mentally and physically. Despite that, it was excellent. Even though I had to interrupt the movie several times (once being for my shower), I still picked up on the distinct mood of the film. Plus, Rugter Hauer rocks my world. Him in The Hitcher? That was classic.

Ahhh, that a beeeeautiful album. His cover of Bjork's "Hyperballad" gives me chills. Actually, most of those songs give me chills.

Totally! I don't think there's a clinker in the bunch. When I first listened to it, I knew it was a CD I'd be buying.

He *says* that he has plans to do a couple follow up covers albums like that one. She Loves Me and She Loves Me Not. He's got me on a hook waiting for them.

Sweet! I'll be looking forward to that too. Oh, but first up: new Coldplay tomorrow! Heh, I don't think you're as jazzed about it as I am, but really, I can't wait.

Actually, I'm extremely unfamiliar with Coldplay stuff. I remember hearing "Yellow" on the radio ages ago and liked it, but beyond that I couldn't name of song of theirs. Where should I start?

Really? Wow...well fortunately it's pretty easy; they've only got 2 CDs out, (well, unless you count the live CD, which looked like a studio money-grab to me, based on their early success). Both CDs, "Parachutes" and "A Rush of Blood to the Head" are superb. "Yellow" comes from the first, and I bet you'll recognize "Clocks" from the second. If you're in a more mellow mood, start with "Parachutes," if in the mood for something a bit edgier, try the other.

They're pop, but the way later Beatles were pop - excellent musicians, great lyrics and super-catchy tunes. To the extent that they redeem radio-listening, even ;0

I think one of the major reasons why I never got into Coldplay is because they're really popular and I think to myself, they don't need me as a fan, they've already got so many. So, I never made an effort to really seek out their music. But since you're so into them, then I'm going to have to check them out. ;-)

I know what exactly what you mean! But yeah, these guys transcend that. Somehow. Hope you enjoy what you hear....
