Do you have any suggestions/reviews on what cell phones you would recommend or not recommend?

I have a Sony Ericsson (500a?). It's not all crazy-fancy, but I've had it for two years, and it is a great phone. I've dropped it several times on asphalt and concrete, but it is still going strong with only a couple scratches on the case to show. I'm not extremely rough on cell phones, mainly because I don't use them a great deal. Mainly it will stay in my purse. However, I want a good phone like my Sony Ericsson, but I have little to no experience with other brands or models. So, advice would be greatly appreciated.

It doesn't need to be a top of the line phone. I want Bluetooth because plugging in my headset is a real pain in the ass. I'd like it to have access to the internet, but I don't plan on using the access very often at all. My current phone has AIM on it, but I never use it because I'm an antisocial lump and I hate texting on a number pad. Same goes for e-mail - it's nice, but I doubt I'd ever use it. A camera would be very cool, but those are pretty much standard on all phones now, even mine has one. My big concern is call quality. I've had very few problems with call quality on my current phone. I'd like that to continue with the new one.

My carrier is Cingular (AT&T - why do they have to change their name?), and I'm quite happy with them. I've been looking at the LG CU500 and the Motorola RAZR V3 or RAZR V3xx. Reviews for both phones are mixed. Some people worship them, other returned them within hours. However, I'm open to other phone brands/models if you've had a good experience with a Samsung or Nokia.

So, if you've got opinions on cell phones, I'd really like to hear them. Pretty please? I plan on going to the Cingular store tonight after dinner to take a look at the phones available, but I'm not hell bent on buying anything until I'm really sold on something.

i have the original Razr and i can't say it's anything special. i'm a primarily use the phone for phone calls/texting type of person and it does all of that just fine.

battery gets old quick. it takes falls (throws) well. picture quality is pretty good for a phone if you don't zoom you can make them into 4x6's. has bluetooth.

Thank you! I am really considering a Razr, but one of the girls that used to work here hated hers. She said that she went through three of them because they kept breaking. I wasn't sure if it was just her being too tough on the phone or if they really are crappy. Glad to hear that you haven't had any problems with yours.

i have a LG VX5200 and a Motorola V325. both are very durable. the LG one is almost a year old and it's holding up very well. (i tend to drop them both so they withstand that well). Both are camera phones with internet capabilities, though i don't use them. I've not had a problem with either of them. (i hate carrying two of them but one is work and one is personal)

I really like the LG Cingular has available right now, but half the reviewers online were complaining about call quality in all the LG phones. Then, the other half of the people were talking about how amazing the call quality is. It's nice to actually "know" someone who didn't have a problem with it. It makes it easier to discount the crazy folk as just being crazy and trying to use their phone in an elevator or something. Between you and [livejournal.com profile] ccangel, I think I can go into the Cingular store with more confidence about what I want. And they better have what I want because I really don't want to wait around for the phone to be shipped to me.

I liked my old Sony Erikson (really old, no camera!) and Genius is quite happy with it now. I have adapted quite happily to my second-hand Motorola V535 flip phone. The only annoying thing about it is the side control buttons that get pushed and make it bleep when it is in my bag. The camera is quite good but rather slow (or I just haven't figured out how to use it properly). I can't really comment on call quality, we are in a poor reception area and nobody has reliable quality! It has blue-tooth and a nice size screen. I would certainly look at a Razr if I was buying new.
