1. I like tons of stuff on your list. To pick one, I'll have to say Paul Auster, cuz that's how we became acquainted. :)

2. Since I like so much on your list and am not familiar with the rest, I'll just say I don't like how you misspelled Dale Cooper as Dale Copper.

3. I'm a bit surprised by the Coheed and Cambria...seems a departure from your other musical tastes. Not that there's anything wrong with being eclectic, heh.

4. I don't understand birthday party - is it a band?

5. Missing? Being a fan of Massive Attack, I think you're missing Tricky. Or Morphine, damn it, I just could never set you on fire for them, could I?

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

Just fixed the Copper/Cooper thing. That's what I get for not proofreading.

I think Coheed and Cambria appeal to me so much because of the sci-fi storyline the albums follow. It's so neat.

Yes, The Birthday Party is a band. It was Nick Cave's band back in the late 70s/early 80s.

I like Morphine...I really do. I just can't fall in love with them. I can't really pin it down why though. I think the sax might turn me off a bit. It never was one of my favorite instruments.

From: [identity profile] donttouchmyhat.livejournal.com

The sci-fi angle to C&C...er, Coheed and Cambria (sorry, didn't want to suggest anything Music Factory) is what I'd assumed (and you later confirmed through writing about it). I want to like them, just haven't found the connection yet.

The Birthday Party - I should've known that.

I'm with you on the sax - usually. The way they use it is so...different. Like a guitar, almost. ::sigh:: Does this mean the wedding is off?

1. hot chocolate. It's hot chocolate whats not to like? =)
2. punk. don't like the style, don't like the music...
3. the amount of specific people. nothing wrong with that, just curious...i guess its not usual for people to define their interests by naming people...
4. I'll try two: lkh and msr....
5. classical music ;)

The choices were random within the group...

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

The specific people listed are probably characters or musicians. I'm a very character-driven person in regards to fiction, movies, or television.

LKH stands for Laurell K. Hamilton. She's the author of the Anita Blake Vampire Hunter series of novels. I'm a bit disappointed with the last few novels, but I still like her style.

MSR is Mulder/Scully Romance since I'm such a sucker for that relationship. Well, not how it was eventually resolved in the ninth season, but the potential in the first few seasons was wonderful.

1. Pick one thing from my interest list you like and tell me why.

Music! I enjoy your music and love listening to songs you suggest.

2. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t like and tell me why.

LKH..you know why.

3. Pick one thing from my interest list you were surprised to see there and tell me why.

Umberto Eco! Love him, just didn't know you did.

4. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t understand and I’ll explain it to you.

Many bands and musicians I'm not familiar with but I do recognise what they are....wish you could explain website design...and that I could do it.

5. Pick one thing that’s not on my interest list but you think it should be there.

Lois McMaster Bujold's Miles Vorkasigan Series. She's a wonderful writer and he's a fabulous character and you should read them!

I don't do the 'pick one thing' very well.

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

I actually just pulled up my Want List (because I'm a nerd and I have want lists for books, movies, and music) and put that series on them.

As for website design - it's not that hard. It's just a matter of playing around with it. Any formal training I had in it has covered stuff I taught myself. www.htmlgoodies.com is a great website to teach yourself how to create webpages.

1. Pick one thing from my interest list you like and tell me why.
-- Massive Attack because of their video for "Teardrop".
2. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t like and tell me why.
-- Louis XIV because he was the worst five year old French emperor of whom I've ever read...sorry, haven't heard the band, although I know they exist.
3. Pick one thing from my interest list you were surprised to see there and tell me why.
-- Darth Maul because there is no other aspect of Star Wars mentioned. But he does kick ass...before he's chopped in half. Damn you Obi-Wan!
4. Pick one thing from my interest list you don’t understand and I’ll explain it to you.
-- Just one? Guy Gavriel Kay. I could find it on wikipedia, but I'll let you explain it to me. Starting a dialogue is fun!
5. Pick one thing that’s not on my interest list but you think it should be there.
-- Britney Spears, just to see if anyone is paying attention.

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

I have mixed feelings about Darth Maul's death. He's one of my favorite characters (especially in The Phantom Menace) and I mourned his passing. However, I really like Qui-Gon as well and evil Maul killed him. I never could decide if I'd be a dark side or a light side kind of chick. I'll just walk the fence.

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

Well, crap...I forgot to answer the fourth item. Darth Maul distracted me. Guy Gavriel Kay is an author. He's written several fantasy novels, my favorite of which is Tigana. Wonderful novel about the dangers of attempting to erase or rewrite history.

From: [identity profile] myvacuumsucks.livejournal.com

I liked Qui-Gon, but he was too much of an idealist. He couldn't see the big picture and that was part of what caused his death. So the kid has a billion of those midichlorians, big deal. That doesn't make him the Chosen One.

I'm full on Dark Side. It's simply more appealing. I'm Anakin after becoming a Darth and before dying (and basically doing the last second salvation moment). Plus it would be cool to mentally choke someone to death.

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

Okay, I'll admit it. I like Qui-Gon because he's Liam Neeson and Liam is hot.

From: [identity profile] myvacuumsucks.livejournal.com

There you go. And that's why I think Natalie Portman is a great actress. haha.

1. BJORK!! No explanation required.
2. Emo.. musical equivalent of whinging :)
3. Otis Redding.. not sure why - I guess I just don't hear many people mention him now.
4. Greg Dulli.. I downloaded one of his songs and still don't get it :) And why does every one of his photos involve him smoking? Eww.
5. Err pass!

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

Otis Redding is a favorite of mine. It's a shame more people don't listen to him.

As for Greg Dulli. If you're looking for something excellent to pull you into this music, then I'd recommend The Twilight Singers' She Loves You. It's an album of covers and really showcases Dulli's talents. He even covers a Bjork song because he's a huge fan of hers. As for the cigarettes...it's his vice, I think. He started smoking when he gave up drugs. He's been making music for years (beginning in the late 80s/early 90s with the Afghan Whigs) and he's become infamous for being cocky and quite the ladies man. The reason I like him is because he's a very influenced by soul/R&B music, but he is a rock artist. He blends the two genres better than any other person I've heard.

From: [identity profile] blinkilite.livejournal.com

1. mulder/scully because it is so obviously hot.
2.i'm not a fan of some of the bands you listed, some i've never heard of. but music is one of those things... everyone likes what they like
3. neil gaiman - didn't know you were a fan. he's my fave!!! (and pretty cute to boot!) hell, you probably commented on one of my neil entries and i don't even remember. :P I'm retarded sometimes.
4. louis xiv - i am thinking this is probably a band, not the king. if it is the king, you definitely have to explain.
5. the lone gunmen. only because you have so many other x-files references in your list, and they were always geeky and funny.

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

Yes, Louis XIV is a band. A bit of a guilty pleasure of mine since they're pretty much a band that likes to write songs about sex and rock and roll.

From: [identity profile] fearful-syzygy.livejournal.com

I haven't got time to do this properly right now but since I'm listening to I'm the Man by Joe Jackson, I'd like to add that as number five.

Also, I think it's J.K. Rowling, isn't it?

I'll be back to do the other when I get a minute.

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

The girl who has an office next to mine was listening to Joe Jackson yesterday. I turned on the radio and was able to pick up the single sent out by the FM transmitter hooked up to her iPod.

And damn my typos. I spelled a character's name wrong as well. What I get for not proofing.

1: Quirkiness: because normal and plain are boring!
2: X-Files: sorry but police/mystery/science fiction dramas are really not my scene... however the movie had a lot of good action in it!
3: errr... Small concerts; cause most people like large.. unless you're talking of a band called small concerts... (i wouldn't know)
4: Mars Volta.
5: Delta Goodrem, cause she's cool! :P
