I couldn't help myself. I needed a laugh this morning. [livejournal.com profile] m_ravensblood had a meme on her LJ in which you search fanfiction.net for a Mary Sue with your name.

The Rules:
1. Use fanfiction.net's Search Story By Summary and look up your name in either Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.
2. If there are any Mary Sues that share your name, pick the worst-sounding one and post the summary.

The winner was "Who's There". Mainly because she spelled Hogwarts with a z and said "they both meet Voldemort...and stuff." Yeah. And stuff. The summary..."This girl - Amanda ( mandy ) pelton is going to hogwartz...obviously..anyway..yeah. and she's friends with Harry and....they both meet Voldemort....and stuff....JUST READ AND FIND OUT!!!" I'm ashamed that my name was used in that even if I had nothing to do with the atrocity.

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] shalanar tagged me a couple days ago and I had forgotten until now.

List five songs that you have been listening to non-stop recently, and then tag five more people to do the same!

01 "P Control" by Prince
02 "Face Down" by Prince
03 "Faded" by The Afghan Whigs
04 "Ragga" by Martina Topley-Bird
05 "My First Kiss at the Public Execution" by Blood Brothers

The fanfiction search for a MarySue using my real name....scary, very scary. I'm thinking maybe I should feel better about my own writing.

You should feel wonderful about your writing. You're Shakespeare compared to some the crazies out there.

It's one of the scariest Meme's that has crossed my path. I know the Buffy and Angel fandoms tend to be equally attrocious in the Mary Sue department.

This could be fun... 5 songs.... The mary sue could be fun too... might try that....

I dig these little tag-postings, but tell me, *what* are these songs saying to you now? Why are they the ones presently playing non-stop?

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

Oh, boy...you're going to make me think about this? The Prince songs just because I've been listening to him a lot lately. He's good for giving me great lyrics, but not overwhemling me with loads of emotion and/or forcing me to indulge in self-evaluation. "P Control" because it's such a party song and I aspire to be more like the woman in the song. "Face Down" because it's one of the best "kiss me ass" songs ever written. The Martina Topley-Bird song because I like her delivery and I seem to keep coming back to it as a favorite on the album. The Afghan Whigs song because it's extremely emotional for me to listen to it and I need something to make me feel. And the Blood Brothers song because I just recently got that album and I reall like that song. Yeah. I think that's it.

Now that's what I'm talking about! Knowing you're a fellow music nut, I was quite curious to know what inspired the choices. I was especially moved by your comment "something to make me feel." Does that mean there's been a certain numbness lately?

From: [identity profile] anogete.livejournal.com

It's hit or miss with the numbness. Across the board, I wouldn't necessarily call it numbness. Perhaps calmness is a better word to use. But I can only enjoy that calm so much before I need my inner self shaken by something. I equate that song ("Faded") to going to church in my own little way. I think you of all people would probably understand that the best. You feel me?

From: [identity profile] donttouchmyhat.livejournal.com

Absolutely I feel you! Ahem. Church is an apt metaphor, too. Sometimes I also have to shake myself up, whether with something raucous or with something epiphanic. And music is the perfect route for that.

Now what was that about feeling again? ;)
