Continental called me at work yesterday. They wanted to reschedule my flights for Thanksgiving. The flight I was taking out of Albuquerque moved back an hour which would cause me to miss my connecting flight in Houston. The same situation happened on my flight out of Charleston to Houston; I'd miss my connecting flight back to Albuquerque. The new flight times actually work much better for me. We get into Charleston earlier, and we leave later. My intial flight back to Albuquerque would have been at 6:30 in the morning. And we all know how good I am with morning hours before 10:00am.
The "bee guys" are dropping by the office today to drill holes in our walls and shoot evil pesticide within. I think we should be allowed to leave early today if they're going to be throwing powdered pesticide all over the building.
In other work-related news, we received an award for safety on the jobsite which caused our insurance company to return thirty grand to us. The boss is excited. She wants to buy everyone coats. Yes, coats. Winter coats, to be exact. She has a pile of samples in her office, along with a catalog. It is supposed to be a surprise, but secrets don't last long in this office. The VP of Loss Management is coordinating the buying of the coats, and he asked me which color we should choose and which would go best with our company logo. I think we're going with black or grey. I forbid him to buy anything yellow or bright green. I suspect we won't get them until December because they all need to be embroidered, and she's buying about 150 for everyone who currently works here. Payroll Girl and I are just hoping this isn't our "Christmas present" this year. Last year she asked me to purchase $500 prepaid credit cards for everyone in a management position. I think we should do that again.
I suck at intarsia/stranding/Fair Isle knitting. I can't figure it out, even though I've read massive amounts of directions and watched a video on it. My problem is that I do not know how to add the new color in. I'm doing it incorrectly, which is causing a problem down the line when I attempt to continue it. All of the directions and videos I can find on the internet have a portion of the work already done, and they simply demonstrate how to continue it. So, if any kind soul knows how to do this and can explain it to me in a reasonably easy to understand way, then I would be forever grateful. I brought some scrap yarn with me to work today, but I still haven't had any luck.
