Another of my early presents was a DVD called The Right Spectacle. Basically, it is a collection of early Elvis Costello videos and a few live performances. I was watching it last night and realized what a complete dork he is. I love it. After several annoying attempts at using free programs to rip the audio/video together, I gave up. However, I did find a good quality streaming Windows Media video of my favorite, "High Fidelity".

As if there was any doubt about how much I love spastic nerds. And the scene with him in the bed? I have no idea where it came from, but his little seductive looks make me giggle.
One of Jason's coworkers, Jeanene, has a beginning of summer party every year at her house. We've weaseled our way out of going for two years in a row, but I think this year there will be hurt feelings if we don't attend. I'm not exactly a party person. It's not that I'm miserable while I'm there, though that is occasionally the case. It's actually because I think of all the other more interesting and productive things I could be using my time for besides standing next to a tiki torch and feigning interest in someone I've just met. This is probably why I never dated all that much. I'm not good at appearing interested when I'm not; it requires a great deal of effort for me. Anyway, the party is tomorrow and I don't really want to go. It's not necessarily the people because she always invites interesting people to attend, even if many of them in rather hippie-ish and wear a great deal of tye-died clothing. And the average age at her party is probably 40, so I won't be surrounded by drunken 20-somethings. But I still don't want to go. The party starts at 7:00, so I think two hours is sufficient and relatively painless for me. Ugg.
