Brake Pads: $99.00
Oil Change: $24.00
Breakfast: $5.94
Spending your morning at McDonald's reading a Harry Potter novel: Priceless.
During the drive to the radio station last night my car started making noises, most notably the metal-on-metal noise when I applied my brakes. So, instead of going to work this morning, I got up a bit early and dropped by the mechanics' at 7am. I was dead on my feet, seeing as how I didn't get to sleep until 2:30am. They took my car off my hands and I walked down the block to have a couple plain biscuits and some orange juice at McDonald's. It was rather peaceful and I spent two hours sitting in the corner booth reading. Alone. Solitude.
The new brake pads rock my world (as much as brake pads can rock anyone's world) and they were installed by 9, so I was only an hour late to work. I was tempted to spend a bit more time in the corner at McDonald's but feared the lunchtime rush.
So, the lesson learned? One peril of listening to your music loudly at all times in your vehicle is that you may not hear any odd sounds your car is making.
I'd like to sleep. Cool sheets, a soft pillow, a bedside fan, a book. Heaven. My reality? Desk, chair, annoying co-workers, paperwork. Blah.
