I liked Rome well enough. With a few minor quibbles, I enjoyed the first season, and thought some of it was fantastically done. However, I felt like the second season was rushed and not well-plotted. It felt like too many people were pulling the show here, there, and everywhere. Plus, I have some major complaints about characterization and the switching of actors (for Octavian). I think many of my complaints are due to budget constraints and issues with the future of the program. When I said "monstrosity", I meant that it was a larger than life production that sort of toppled over on itself, not that it was horrible. Either way, I still think Pullo was the best thing about the show. :-)
And, if I ever have the pleasure of meeting him, then I surely will say hello for you.
