I'm two-thirds of the way finished with my assignment for the HG/SS fiction exchange. I'm itching to spill the plot here, but I've been forbidden to do so by the rules of the exchange. It isn't due until mid-June, so I've got plenty of time for rewrites or corrections. I attempted to keep it at a reasonable length, but it's already twice the required length of 1,500 words. I suspect it will be close to 5,000 when I finish.

Jason's mother guilt-tripped us into visiting Caricia in the hospital last night after dinner. She went into labor yesterday afternoon. We only stayed for an hour because what pregnant woman wants seven people in the delivery room? She had the baby this morning around 6:30. Jason's mother called and woke us to say that the head was emerging. O_o She had the cell phone in the delivery room and wanted to give us a play-by-play. Yeah. I had stuff to attend to at work, so Jason went over to appease them this morning, but I have to go this evening or there will be a scandal of epic proportions. If someone asks me if the baby is cute I'm going to tell them the truth: NO. Jason is still referring the baby as an "it". She's a girl.

They're switching the air conditioning on in my apartment today, so Ferguson came to work with me. He's exceptionally well-behaved when I bring him to work.

Speaking of the apartment complex... I'm not sure if new people moved in next door or what, but this shit isn't going to go on for long. The apartment that shares a bedroom wall with mine is a small, one-bedroom. I think a single guy lives there, and we usually have no trouble with him. He apparently decided to have party-day on Sunday, and spent the entire day drinking beer with six friends on his balcony. They were so loud I had to close the windows. Around 7:00 in the evening the party was moved downstairs to the sidewalk and parking lot. When I went to walk Ferguson at 10:00, two of the guys were sitting on the hood of my car. I asked them to kindly remove their asses, which they did without complaint. They just slid onto the white car beside mine. I called the security patrol around 10:30, but they didn't arrive until 11:00 and Mr. Party-Pants and his cohorts had taken the bash back up to his balcony. I marched into the apartment office yesterday and made a formal complaint. The woman assured me that they would be warned about the excessive noise and the drinking in the common areas. Two more strikes and they get evicted. Excellent. I'm all about evicting people.
