Naked Lunch was interesting, if not a tad bit on the long side. I thought it would have been good at 90 to 100 minutes. 115 was a bit excessive. But that's a small complaint. The music blended wonderfully with the scenes and I found the characters to be interesting. It lacked a certain emotional aspect that I look for in movies, but I can't fault it for that because I don't think William S. Burrough's writings lend themselves well to the certain emotional components that I look for. Interesting take on writing. I'm still piecing together my official opinion of the film and what I think they were trying to convey to the viewer. I will say that the cover art is brilliant. I rented the Criterion Collection release with the gentleman in the suit with a typewriter for a face. I want that in poster version to adorn my bedroom wall.
I slept in as much as the dog would allow. I'm dog-sitting and she's very insistent when she needs to pee. After breakfast I spent the majority of the morning and afternoon cleaning the apartment. It took nearly a half an hour to thoroughly scrub the shower (shows you how often I clean that). I felt much better after everything was clean, including myself after the post-cleaning shower. Got sucked into reading fanfic afterward and wasted away the rest of my evening doing that.
Pink Flamingo and Slaughterhouse Five are on the viewing schedule for this evening. Haven't seen either one, but I'm especially looking forward to Slaughterhouse Five if the raving reviews are any indication of it.
