Bits and Bobs on a Friday Morning

- There are too many raisins in Raisin Bran. I think they should cut back. However, it does taste wonderful with soy milk.

- My 401(k) doesn't look like it wants to cry anymore. I've almost gained back all the money I lost a couple months ago.

- Why is Rupert Grint so adorable? How old is he? 16?** God, I'm such a perv. Shoot me.

- We're getting a real receptionist at work. The current pseudo-receptionist (who can't spell) gave notice yesterday since she'll be tied up with school and unable to work the proper hours. I put an ad in the classified to run this weekend. Now, I just have to cross my fingers that we get decent applicants.

- I started writing a fic yesterday. It's over 5,000 words at the moment, but I'm not sure where I'm taking it. It's Draco/Hermione. I don't know how good it is because I've never written that 'ship before and I gave up on reading so many of the Dramione stories because Draco was suddenly a super suave fellow who secretly loved Hermione the entire time. It weirds me out. If anyone 'ships the Dramione and wants to read it to tell me if it's utter shit or not, please contact me. I suspect my flist is filled with non-HP readers or SS/HG, LM/HG 'shippers, though.

- At least it's Friday. I'm taking Monday off because I feel like it.

EDIT: **He's actually 19. I feel a bit better now.

Isn't 16 the age of sexual consent in Britain?

I'm just saying.

You're not alone.

I'm a pretty hardcore SSHG shipper (the kind where Hermione is allowed to stray, while Snape is not), but I have read a few Dramiones that worked for me.

I don't mind if Draco has been harboring a secret attraction to Hermione; but I can't quite buy that he has been secretly in love with her. That's a bit too much. And considering how little he knows her...what exactly would he have been in love with?

More than 5,000 words in, I certainly hope you don't chuck your story!! As to where you take it...a threesome with a certain snarky man in black never hurts (well, only in a GOOD way!)!!

I'll read! If you're turned off by all the Dramione stories that have Draco turned into a sexy, angsty woobie, then I think your story and I will get along ^_^

Yes! That's another thing. Where did sexy!Draco come from? I'm not saying his asexual or a prude, but I didn't pick up any sex god indications in the text. Fandom associates Slytherin with sex like crazy, and I just don't see it that way.

Anywho, I'll send you what I have thus far once I can did a proof. There's probably typos galore in there. It's actually a response to a prompt on Potter Place, so hopefully I'll be able to get most of it finished before the challenge is finished.

I'm sure the fic is wonderful...but I just CAN'T read HP stuff.

There are NOT too many raisins in Raisin Bran. Shame on you, shame I say!!! LOL

Lies! I want one raisin per bite. It runs the flow when I get three. Maybe I can pick out all my extra raisins and give them to you. Or, better yet, they could sell two types of Raisin Bran - one with less raisins and one with more.

Well, you know how much I love the idea of Dramione. The execution of this 'ship is, I grant you, sadly lacking. Way too much "how d'you do? would you like to shag?" going on. Even though someone has offered to see your 5000 words, I'd still like to see it too. ^-^

I think my biggest problem with Dramione is that many authors tend to treat it like there's not a huge hurdle to jump in order to get the two of them in bed. So many people who write SS/HG seem to understand that even if there is an attraction between Snape and Hermione, it still wouldn't be easy to execute a relationship since there is so much workin against them. In Dramione, they just throw the two of them in a room and expect the sparks to fly. I can buy that Draco might have a little bit of an immature crush on Hermione since his actions in the book seem to point toward the boy that picks on the girl he likes. Of course, there is more to it than that, and jealously definitely plays a role, but I still think that's a viable way to approach the relationship. I don't know... It just seems like very few people who write that 'ship put much effort into understanding how these two people interact with each other. They seem to think that the sex card trumps everything.

Anyway, I left that damn fic at work. I e-mailed it to myself and added to it during the day on Friday. Then I forgot to e-mail it to my personal account so I could get it at home. I also didn't bring my flash drive since I'm forgetful as all get out. I'm off on Monday, but I hope to read over what I have and make some corrections on Tuesday. I'll definitely send it your way if you want to read it and let me know if I've gotten them both terribly wrong. It's a response to a Potter Place prompt in which Hermione asks Harry to help her get leniency granted for one or more Death Eaters in custody. I'm trying to go with canon as of DH (except for the epilogue). My eventual goal is to throw Draco into the Muggle world and have him survive, with Hermione's help, of course. I don't know how much plot I can dredge up other than a series of interactions between the two of them. But, I'm enjoying feeling out a possible relationship between them.

Please, do. I absolutely want to read this. :D

When I was little I used to pick all the raisins out of my bowl and put them back in the box. At the end we were left with a giant box of raisins. Then I discovered Wheaties! My mom was very happy, because she would get bowls of raisins with one flake per bite, lol.

Rupert Grint is my new hero, for saying what everyone else is thinking, "Lindsay Lohan can't act!" <3 Rupert.

Yay new receptionist! Good luck!
