Dragon Statues, Writing, and the Consequences of a Ron Paul Sticker

I was skiving off work this morning while running an errand and popped by Cost Plus World Market. I'm not sure who is responsible for all the lovely metal sculptures there, but I whipped out my cell to take a couple pictures.

I'm well and truly writing again. Who knows how long it will last, but I'm enjoying it while I am able. I hope to have the lovely chaptered fic (25,000+ words!) finished in a few days. So excited over my ability to write again I might even make a banner for the fic with pretty pictures of the Doctor (Nine) and Rose.

Oh, and if I am carted off to some sort of FEMA camp or similar government detention facility in the future, then know that it was because of this crazy piece of bullshit. Let me just say that I am not a member (nor am I close to becoming a member) of any militia, peaceful or not. However, according to the government, I am a potential militia member. I (still) have a Ron Paul sticker on the back of my car, not to mention that I donated money to his campaign last year. I am also on mailing lists for Campaign for Liberty and what was Bob Barr's and Chuck Baldwin's presidential campaigns. I've attached my name and address to many petitions to have third parties included on local election ballots. Most recently, I signed a petition to audit the sleazy entity known as the Federal Reserve. I own a gun and have a concealed carry permit. And (::gasp::) I am in possession of subversive literature. This means I am an educated, well-informed individual capable of taking care of herself. To the government this means I am a threat. I have knowledge unflattering to them and have the means to defend myself should they attempt to perpetrate any of their illegal activities upon me. And the government--Republican and Democrat--participates in many illegal activities. I am so sickened by the stupidity of this entire charade that it makes me want to go out and join a militia. Seeing as how I have no trust in our government and haven't for quite some time, that'd be right up my alley. Way to be fascists, you assholes.

Holy hell...by those standards, apparantly so am I.

*considers joining up with Chuck Norris' crazy militia group...but then decides against it, because...well...they are bat shit crazy*

I'll see you in the FEMA camps when the economic collapse happens. ;-) I joke about it, but these are scary times. Each day I see another piece of information that makes me worry about the current path of the citizens of this country.

That FEMA camp article is disturbing. I will say, at least part of the info on possible camps in California is incorrect. I know McClellan like the back of my hand, both as a military base, and now as a deactivated base, and there is no place there that could hold 30-35K people. Not as sure about Mather, but given all that's built up around there, I'm doubtful it could hold any appreciable number either. Neither could the old Army Depot.

But still...the concept is terrifying. And yet, I can't really say I'm surprised...which is what bothers me the most.

Exactly! The most disturbing part for me is that I'm no surprised the government would go to these lengths. Right now, I'm taking the FEMA Camp information with a grain of salt. I'm sure there is something to it, though I don't think things are as far-reaching as some make them out to be. There are a couple videos on YouTube about it. Like I said, you can't go jumping to conclusions too soon, but the videos are pretty frightening.

Ditto. Looking around a bit, it seems like a very real program in concept, but not in actual implementation. Just the fact that the program concept seems real though...wow.

Hey, maybe they'll put us both in the same camp! I had no idea I was a militia member, but as I fit into a number of those criteria, I must be. They will be most shocked to find that I have owned some variety of the "Don't tread on me" flag since I was a child, so I guess I have been a member of a militia since before puberty.

You were a juvenile delinquent! Shame! :-)

There is a fellow around here who does a public access channel in which he discusses politics. His backdrop is a 'Don't Tread on Me' flag. Once he goes, I'll start looking over my shoulder for the men in suits.

Yup, wrote something myself on it the other day, including the Missouri governor defending it.

Governments should fear their people, and apparently they do. But this is ridiculous on their part. :P Good decisions do not get made out of fear, and this bit of craziness has fear written all over it.

Um, I would totally buy into all of this...except you went to FOX NEWS to get some news???? What were you thinking? It's Fox News? It's like asking a Mongolian to predict the weather in Nebraska. He might guess, and it might be right, but it is neither the weather, nor in this case, is it the news!

Really, are you going to tell me you listen to/watch Bill O'Reilly next?

In interesting news, I has me a boyfriend. He is a keeper. He knows how to do dishes by hand and give footrubs that last til the next day. I will let him linger in my gracious aura a while longer...giggle.

I definitely watch Fox News. I like it much better than CNN or any other news source, to be honest. I watched Bill O'Reilly off and on a couple years back, but he doesn't fit into my after-work schedule at the moment. Plus, he annoys me when he cuts people off after asking them a question. However, he is not the conservative poster boy that people make him out to be. Most people I've spoken to who adamantly hate him admit that they've never seen an entire episode of his program. At any rate, if you're looking for someone to sympathize with you about Fox News being evil and Republican, then you're looking at the wrong girl. I vote Republican half the time and Democrat the other.

Congrats on the boyfriend. Yay!
