The Lazy Adventures of Ferguson, the Dog
After I did my sixty minutes on the treadmill, I called for Ferguson. He didn't come, and I didn't see him anywhere in the apartment. When I walked back into the living room, I saw his head, poking out of some old blankets I had piled in the armchair.
He's very good at covering himself up, so when I pulled the blanket off to reveal him, he was a bit peeved.
But he got over it and gave a bit of a stretch, yawn, and lick.
Immediately, he found his favorite ratty (rat) toy and mauled it to demonstrate his ability to kill furry things.
And, then he sat down in the floor and waited for me to throw it so he would feel as if the rat was at least putting up a fight while he attempted to kill it.
Seriously, I have no idea what I would do without this dog. He's the coolest, sweetest dog ever. He's actually asleep on my lap at the moment. I interrupted his nap, so it's the least I could do. If you want a dog, then for goodness sake adopt, don't buy from a pet store or breeder. There are wonderful dogs in public and private shelters that need homes. Ferguson was nearly euthanized because his owners could not afford to pay the vet bills after he was attacked and nearly killed by their larger dog. Luckily, the shelter signed him over to an animal rescue that got him the care he needed so I could adopt him. Please, please, please adopt the doggies that need homes.

Most of the dogs I've ever had are strays-although I may adopt from a shelter sometime this year. I hope I can. As the motto goes Don't breed or buy while shelter pets die.

I agree!!! I feel very strongly about that. All of our animals are shelter dogs or rescue animals, too.
Ferguson is ADORABLE, btw.

Eep, I want to so, so, SOOOOO much!! I'm hoping that in a year or so I will be in a position to at least foster if not to adopt yet. But waiting is HARD! *squirm*
