On TV Tonight

What's on tonight? True Blood, that's what. For the record: so excited. So excited that I might even start liking Bill. At least until Eric shows up around the third or fourth episode. I don't subscribe to HBO or any of the premium movie channels, but DirecTV is offering a few weekend of HBO at the moment, so I'll be able to watch it tonight. In the future, I'll have to depend on all the tech-savvy fans out there who can upload the episodes to YouTube.

Ferguson has a love/hate relationship with the vertical blinds in the living room. They're easy for him to push aside for peeking out in the yard. However, they block the sun and prevent his favorite past-time: sunbathing. Yesterday, he figured out a way around them. Pictorial proof.

I picked up a copy of I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith this weekend. I've heard some good things about it from a few people, and it seems to be the sort of novel I'm in the mood for at the moment. Has anyone on my flist read it? What did you think?

I've read I capture the castle, and it is a very good story. It keeps you interest throughout, at times very light and funny, then other times chilling.
I would highly recommend reading it as well.

Ah, yes. Trueblood. I have been looking forward to this as well. Only just found out they are based on that Southern Vampire series, which I haven't read... I have HBO, so I will be watching it if I am home :P

... Ferguson is very clever :)

And was not Trueblood fabulous? I was really really pleased! Bill's a bit broody, and Tara's great, but not like the character from the book, but those are very small quibbles.

I had seen quite a bit of the first episode from the leaked pilot that was floating around on the torrent sites. The actress that played Tara was switched out from the original, and I like the new girl better. The other girl had an odd accent that wasn't quite southern, but was trying to be. Oddly enough, I like the broodyBill much better than the Bill in the novels, but I suspect that's just because I don't like novelBill all that much. I had small complaints, but I think they did a fantastic job of staying true to the novels. I'm very much looking forward to seeing more vampires and Sookie's first visit to Fangtasia.

Watched True Blood and immediately tracked down the first book in the series, and holy cow! I've found a universe that I can live in (Fork you Cullens! Even though I love Edward in book 1...the altruism wears me down)

But when I went back to re-watch the pilot, I kept going back to Sam's scene with Sookie when she hears his thoughts. *swoon* I can see the sexual attraction with Bill, but I'm always a sucker for the guy, the friend behind the scenes, who has always loved the girl.

Yes! I'm definitely with you on Sam. He's my favorite. I've read all of the books that are out except for the last one. Sam is in all of them, but in a few he just has small parts. He's definitely a contender for Sookie's affections, though. She keeps pushing him away because she's afraid of dating her boss. Plus, she's got a line of other supernatural cuties on the side. I won't spoil the books for you, but there is more to Sam than you might think. He's got a bit of a secret himself, and I suspect they'll reveal it in this first season of True Blood. They've already hinted at it in the first episode.

Yes, I'm picking up on Sam's...talents...in the book. And you're right, there was the tiniest hint ("It must be so hard for her") that there is more to him than one can see. I'm so excited to have something new to obsess over. ;)

I love the actor they cast to play Sam. I started reading the books about three months ago, and I took to Sam straight away. I was worried they would cast someone unlikeable as him so as to not show the vampires up. Turns out, they cast the most wonderful fellow who is exactly how I see Sam.

I never really liked Bill all that much. For me, he just fell flat on the page. I do, however, like the Bill in the HBO series a bit more. Maybe actually seeing him as made a difference. I'm also very, very excited to see them bring in Eric in a few episodes. I think he's probably the fan favorite of the series, and I like him loads more than Bill.
