Misc. Friday Mutterings

You know you love my sexy Skinner icon.

I'm feeling slightly better, though I still have some congestion lingering in my sinuses. I long for the day when I can sleep without interruption.

Work is crap. We're having a two-thirty meeting on the new health insurance plan. I'm already aware of how it works, but attendance is mandatory. And to make things worse, my hair is a hot mess today. Everyone keeps telling me about how I should only wash my hair every other day. So, I didn't wash it last night. This was a very big mistake, seeing as how my hair is currently in revolt against this grievous mistreatment. To make matters worse, I overslept this morning, so there was no time to tame this wild beast. I'd take a picture, but it might turn you all to stone.

I've managed to vomit three thousand words of the last minute SS/HG Exchange fic I volunteered to write. I'm going to go back and clean it up today, and (hopefully) write another three thousand, time permitting. I've also managed to plan the remainder of the fic with a general plot outline. It should be completed within ten thousand words unless the muse gets carried away.

The incident I spoke of in this entry is still unresolved. They have determined that the elderly couple was killed by an outsider, and that it was definitely not a murder/suicide. Residents in the neighborhood called with information on a young man in his late-teens/early-20s who had been seen in the area acting suspiciously. Apparently, he attempted to talk his way into another home just a couple days before. They released a composite sketch of him on the local news in an attempt for find him for questioning. They haven't found him, though they did say several pieces of trace evidence were collected from the crime scene for further analysis.

On top of all the hoopla over the double murder, there have been two other home invasions within the last two days. Plus, a former co-worker's apartment was broken into on Wednesday evening at seven o'clock. They took her computer and television after kicking in her door while she was still at work. I know the rise in crime is due to the time of year and all, but it's still disturbing to hear about all of these things, especially after I read that New Mexico is listed as the second most dangerous state according to Morgan Quitno Press. Specifically, we are second in rape, assault, and burglary. And we're sixth in murder. Nice.
