no you are not odd for that... b/c i did the same thing. i loved dune as a teenager! but i loved the book more than the movie. the movie had a few key elements severely wrong and it angered me about the ending of it. (and the fact that the actor was too old for part, but that is just me nitpicking)

i still can't believe i'm marrying a guy who hasn't seen Dune before... at least I made him watch Bladerunner a few years ago.
