I fell asleep while watching Out of the Blue, an older Dennis Hopper film. The quality of the picture and sound were horrible. Phantom of the Paradise was good, although I don't think I'd classify it as a musical. The song play the role of a storyteller in musicals and it just complimented the story in Phantom of the Paradise. Oddly enough, the movie was mixed up with Phantom of the Opera (hence the title) and Faust (which I just finished reading). I didn't know of the Faust connection until a few minutes into the movie. The other rental this weekend was Logan's Run which was decidedly NOT as good as I thought it would be. I found it to be slightly confusing and sloppy in the actual telling of the story. I didn't form much of an attachment to any of the characters and it seemed there was just too much random bits they threw in to beef up the world and the environment - bits that just weren't needed.
