anogete | Big Brothers Big Sisters? (Reply)

Does anyone have any experience with Big Brothers/Big Sisters? I've been seriously considering volunteering with them, but I just can't decide. As much as I don't want kids, I really think that it would be fun and rewarding to be a mentor. Especially since I'll never have any of my own because... well, ewww... pregnancy and childbirth just aren't for me. At any rate, a co-worker of mine said that she volunteered, but ended up in a situation where the parents of the child considered her to be a free babysitter who was expected to buy their child presents so they didn't have to spend the money. This is definitely not what I want. So, does has anyone volunteered with BBBS before? Or know someone who has?
