I met Farmer Monte! I played it cool, but I was totally jazzed because he's like a celebrity to me.

Farmer Monte is the fellow who runs Los Poblanos Organics. He's an organic gardening guru. I get my weekly CSA produce boxes from Los Poblanos, and they are the best thing ever. Anyway, I switched the pick up location this week, and Farmer Monte was there. He bestowed me with a box of fresh fruits and veggies. Only I could get excited over meeting the guy who grows my veggies. Really. This week's box had asparagus in it, and I roasted the bunch this evening for dinner. A bit of olive oil, some sea salt, a dash of pepper, and some minced garlic make asparagus very happy. I could live off it.

Spring, please come to me. I hate this cold weather. Living in the foothills of the city has its perks (yay for hiking on the trails across the street), but one of them is not the high winds and chilly temperatures compared to where I work down by the river.

I'm making progress on my Doctor Who fic! It's written with the exception of the epilogue and a few bits and pieces I need to insert into the last few chapters. I hope to have the first chapter or two posted next week.

I just spent over $60 on Doctor Who books. o_O My life has been eaten.

What happened to being frugal? What happened to not spending money on frivolous things? What happened to paying off my student loan early? (OMG, debt, I hate you.) What happened to thrifty Amanda? Obviously, thrifty Amanda wasn't around tonight to tell the impulsive demon to stop clicking the 'Add to Cart' button on Amazon Marketplace. It's a sickness, I tell you. The economy is going down the tubes, and I'm like, "Oooh, look at the pretty books to feed my obsession. Must have."

I shouldn't have had the coffee this late. It was probably a bad idea.
I know most of you on my flist don't give two figs about Doctor Who fic, especially Nine/Rose, but I'm posting it here anyway. It's my LJ; I'll do what I want. ::sticks out tongue:: ;-)

kiss my ass, writer's block )
I have this horrible tension headache that started in my shoulders and neck. I want to listen to crank up some tunes, but my head will not allow it. I'm playing things quietly; it's better than nothing, I guess.

This overwhelming need to write Nine/Rose fic is welling up in me. It's probably because I only have one more episode of the first season to watch, and then no more Nine. ::cries:: I don't care about Ten; Nine/Rose always be my Doctor Who OTP. I know I've been whining about this for days, but I'm crushed.

J. Holiday would be a sexy bastard if he'd just cut off the braids hanging down the back of his neck. I want to take a pair of scissors to them.

but he has some lovely songs )

Also, I don't think anyone can write a feel-good song like The Dream. His albums make me want to get up and dance around the apartment, even with this hideous headache. Unfortunately, I cannot 'rock that shit' properly when my head throbs every time I move it.

Actually, it's questionable whether I could rock that shit on a good day...

I've jumped into two swaps at Swap-Bot. The first one should be very easy because it is just a tea exchange. I'll be sending tea to two different people, and I will be receiving tea from two others. The other I am terribly excited about. It is a classic movie bookmark swap. I've already created two double-sided bookmarks in a graphics program, both of which feature one of my favorite movies from the 1940s. I cannot express how anxious I am to see the bookmarks made for me. Yay!

[livejournal.com profile] scrawled is now accepting artwork commissions from LJ Land. Details are at her journal. She's done two commission for me--one of which was like the ones she's offering now with the index-card-sized artwork. Her art is fantastic, and if you're looking for a little commish action, then you should hit her up.

Ra Ra Riot is fantastic. It's one of those albums I didn't expect much from, but fell in love with immediately. It helps when you're driving home from work, don't catch any red lights, and have the windows rolled down to feel the warm air. "Have I been too discrete? How long am I supposed to wait?"

I'm never going to love the tenth Doctor as much as the Ninth. Never ever. Christopher Eccleston, get your ass back over here.

There was a murder a mile from my apartment this afternoon. o_O A man was shot dead in front of his house by his long-time business associate. Holy crap, the economy sucks, but you don't need to shoot people.
This is a terribly dorky thing to blog about on a Friday night, but I must say that I want to cry. :-( Don't think this is going to be a serious post about my life. I'm just going to cry because of Doctor Who. Jason and I started watching the first season of the recent incarnation of the show last week on Netflix. I've put off watching it because David Tennant does absolutely nothing for me. I've seen a couple episodes with him in it here and there, but I've never been sucked in much. Jason wanted to watch it, though, so we're watching it. And, I love Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor. I don't want him to go away after the first season. I don't want David Tennant. ::cries::

I'm sure I'll get over this eventually. I'm sure David does a wonderful job or everyone else wouldn't worship him. But, Nine, I'll miss you. ::cries more::

The graduation ceremony was dull. We were half an hour late, which worked to my benefit, as the speakers were wrapping it up when we arrived. There was great amounts of yelling and screaming and clapping. There was even a group of women behind me who screamed, "sexy" both times their friend walked across the stage. I suppose there's just no accounting for taste.

::runs off to read Nine/Rose fanfic::

Don't judge me! I haven't met Jack yet. That's the next episode.

Well, crap. I forgot our annual audit at work is tomorrow. I haven't done a single thing to prepare for it, which means I'll be slogging through musty boxes of bank statements and canceled checks for most of the morning. Eff this.

Jason and I started watching the recent episodes of Doctor Who, beginning with the ninth Doctor.

Brent Weeks, you slay me! You kill two of my favorite characters? Tell me people are resurrected in your novels or I might cry. And you twist the knife by making characters I like kill other characters I like. Damn you. I'm avoiding spilling names because I don't know if anyone reading my blog might want to crack open Brent Weeks's The Night Angel Trilogy. I mentioned it a few weeks back when I saw the super shiny covers in the bookstore and had to get them since I  assassins. Well, in these books, they aren't really assassins; they're wetboys. A wetboy is an extremely skilled assassin; they're the fellows you'd send to kill an assassin. At any rate, the books are fantastically wonderful, and I'm current devouring the second novel in the series.

Because I loved Lil' Wayne's "A Milli", it should come as no surprise that I also love Beyonce's "Diva". Although, I do prefer the dance done Trois Style. The one in the tutu is my favorite. And just like everyone and their mother, they've also done their rendition of "Single Ladies", complete with what appear to be devil horns. For a more faithful and technically superior knockoff of "Single Ladies", you can check out this fellow's video. He's very good!
